Communicating in Crisis: How to lead yourself
and influence others during turbulent times

Everything we know as typical and normal is changing. If we go back to status quo, we’ve missed an opportunity…an opportunity to create the more just, equitable and connected world. Typical crisis communication minimizes damage so companies and organizations can survive. This workshop will teach you six steps to not surviving but thriving during a crisis, to come out stronger than ever.

You will learn:

  • How to first take care of yourself so you can communicate effectively to others.
  • Shift your mindset and those around you to see crisis as opportunity
  • Craft language and messages to create the outcomes you seek
  • Tools to manage uncomfortable conversations to solve problems and get your most important work done

That’s also when she started a long love affair with both her husband, Jon Schmuke, and Truman the Tiger. Maryanne and Jon have three children adopted from foster care. She’s known for her love of ultrahigh heels, extra-large Diet Cokes, and short karaoke rotations.

This special virtual event is presented in conjunction with our fellow PRSA chapters from around Missouri and the Midwest District.
