SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Southwest Missouri Public Relations Society of America (SWMO PRSA) has selected Evangel University student Madison Mabry as the recipient of its Dr. Joe McAdoo Memorial Scholarship.

The $1,200 award will be spread evenly over the fall 2025/spring 2026 semesters.

The SWMO PRSA chapter established the scholarship in memory of Joe McAdoo, a founder and past president of the club, formerly known as the Public Relations Association of Springfield. McAdoo also served as chair of Drury University’s Department of Communication and was committed to fostering educational opportunities upholding the distinction and integrity of the public relations profession.

The scholarship is awarded annually to one student from a local southwest Missouri-based college or university who is pursuing a degree in communications, public relations or a closely related field. A scholarship committee reviews applications and selects the recipient.

“I am honored to be the recipient of the scholarship! As a multimedia journalism major at Evangel, I am passionate about using storytelling to inform and inspire others through writing, photography and digital media," said Mabry. "Receiving this scholarship is not only a huge encouragement, but it also helps me continue pursuing hands-on opportunities in my education without financial strain. I am grateful for this support as I work toward making a lasting impact through ethical communication in the media."
